Discover the storybook landscapes of North Holland on this immersive full-day excursion showcasing the Netherlands at its most iconic. Travel through lush farmland reclaimed from the former Zuiderzee as you make your way to the famous windmill village of Zaanse Schans, where historic wooden houses and working windmills paint a vivid picture of pre-industrial Dutch life.
Enjoy a guided visit inside a traditional windmill to learn how products such as oil paint or wooden clogs were made using wind power. From there, continue to the charming village of Broek in Waterland, where guests who have (only pre-booked bicycles) will set off on a leisurely 30-minute ride through flat countryside and scenic reclaimed lands. Guests not cycling will travel comfortably by coach to the next stop.
At a local cheese farm, all guests reunite to enjoy a typical Dutch pancake lunch followed by regional cheeses and a tasting of jenever. During the visit at the cheesefarm there will be a guided explanation of traditional Dutch cheese-making. The journey continues to Edam, world-famous for the cheese that bears its name. This day offers the perfect blend of culture, countryside, culinary traditions, and gentle activity.
